How to Rent a Space by the Hour in India

By XtraSpace · Updated

Short answer

To rent a space by the hour on XtraSpace, search by city, category and date, compare the photos, amenities and hourly rate, then send the host a booking request with your hours and purpose, or your own offer. The host approves it, and you check in with the code from your booking.

Decide what the space has to do

Start from the activity, not the room type. A yoga batch needs clear floor and a calm sound level; a product shoot needs light and power points; a workshop needs seating, a screen and somewhere for people to wait. Write down your headcount, the hours you need including setup and cleanup, and anything you cannot do without.

That list decides your category. A dance studio often suits yoga, fitness, rehearsals and shoots as well as dance; a school classroom or college hall suits workshops and exams on weekends; a café works for small meetups outside its rush hours.

Search and shortlist

Open Browse spaces and filter by city, category, date and number of guests. Switch to the map to see where each space is, or tap Near me to sort by distance from where you are. Each listing shows its photos, amenities, capacity, the hours the host has marked as free and its rate.

Some listings say "Price on request". That is not a hidden fee: the host simply wants you to propose a price for your use, which you do in the booking request.

Send a clear booking request

A host decides on every request personally, so a clear one gets a faster yes. Give the date, the start and end time, how many people are coming, what you will be doing, and any setup you need. If the listed rate does not fit your budget, you can offer your own price in the same request.

  • Date, start time and end time, including setup and cleanup
  • Number of people
  • The activity, in one line
  • Equipment or furniture you need
  • Your offer, if it differs from the listed rate

Negotiate fairly

The host can accept your offer or reply with a counter-offer, and you can respond in turn. A price only becomes the agreed price when the host accepts it, and the booking screen shows clearly which figure is a proposal and which is agreed.

Off-peak hours and regular weekly slots are where hosts have the most room to move, because those are the hours that would otherwise earn nothing.

On the day

When the host approves, your booking shows a check-in code. Arrive within your booked window and give the host the code. Leave the space as you found it: under the XtraSpace Terms the guest is responsible for any damage during the booking, and the host for the space itself.

After the booking you can leave a review. Only guests who have booked a space can review it, which is what makes ratings on XtraSpace worth reading.
